L-OADN AWARD CRITERIA FOR OUTSTANDING STUDENT AND EDUCATOR

GENERAL INFORMATION

 1.             Each Associate Degree Nursing program in Louisiana is eligible to participate in this award program.

2.             Each Associate Degree Nursing program can nominate an Outstanding Educator and an Outstanding Student based on the criteria below.

3.             Names must be submitted by published date.  The recipients of each award will be announced at the annual convention of L-OADN.

4.             Statements submitted by honorees as part of the application for the award may used in a L-OADN publication.

 CRITERIA FOR OUTSTANDING ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING EDUCATOR

 1.             Individual is licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana.

2.             Individual has three years of teaching experience in an associate degree nursing education program.

3.             Individual currently spends 51% or more of his or her workload in direct student contact either in the classroom or clinical setting.

4.             Individual holds a membership in L-OADN/N-OADN and is actively involved in committee work, holding an office or attending conventions.

5.             Individual utilizes innovative teaching strategies that encourage critical thinking in students.

6.             Individual motivates students to perform at their highest level.

7.             Individual functions as a role model as a professional nurse.

8.             Individual works cooperatively with colleagues in the college and/or clinical setting.

9.             Individual shows evidence of involvement in college, professional, and community activities.

CRITERIA FOR OUTSTANDING ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING STUDENT

 1.             Currently enrolled in the associate degree nursing program which is nominating the student.

2.             Individual must have a 2.5 or above GPA.

3.             Individual has shown leadership among fellow students while in the associate degree program.

4.             Individual displays a high degree of caring and professional spirit.

5.             Individual must submit a brief (one page) statement telling how he or she plans to utilize their associate degree education for future success.
