Mississippi and Louisiana Organizations for Associate Degree Nursing Presents for the Nursing Student:  NURSING SCHOOL SUCCESS.  Study Skill Tips & Other Good Advice! Developed as an outcome of a study titled "Nursing Education Barriers Identification Survey" conducted by The Mississippi Office of Nursing Workforce, this modular course has been made available on CD to nursing schools in both states.

CONVENTION 2006 TIMELINE

Convention 2006 opens the window opportunity for individuals and schools to participate in the full scope of activities available during the annual L-OADN convention.  To assist in your planning and participation, the following timeline is presented.  Downloadable forms for registration and presenters are availabe at our CONVENTION page...hyperlinked areas at the top.

1.  Deadline for submission of requirements for RN Poster Presentation or RN Focus Session Presenter is February 1, 2006.  Contact person:   dquale@dcc.edu

2.  Deadline for nominations for L-OADN office is March 1, 2006. Contact person: bfife@ans.latech.edu

3.  Deadline for submission of nominees for L-OADN Outstanding Nurse Educator and Outstanding Associate Degree Nursing Student awards is March 1, 2006.  Contact person: psmart@dcc.edu

4.  Deadline for submission of Student Poster Presentations is March 1, 2006.  Contact person:  sschaf@dcc.edu

5.  Early registration concludes March 1, 2006.  Rates increase after this date.  Contact person:  jschex@dcc.edu

Proposed Bylaws Changes  (2005)

The following L-OADN Bylaws changes are proposed, and will be brought to the membership for vote at the Annual Convention, April 1, 2005

Article III Section 4.a    Current:  Any student enrolled in an approved associate degree program in the State of Louisiana automatically becomes a member of L-OADN.  PROPOSED:  Any student enrolled in an approved associate degree program in the State of Louisiana automatically becomes a member of L-OADN for the duration of his/her student status.

Article IV Section 3    Current:  The annual dues shall extend for one calendar year with all memberships renewed on the same date.  PROPOSED:  The annual dues shall extend for one calendar year.  Memberships are renewed on the individual's anniversary date.  (change necessitated because of change in N-OADN dues structure.)

Article IV Section 4     Current:  Student members will pay dues directly to L-OADN treasurer.  PROPOSED:  There is no dues structure for student members.  See Article III Section 4.a

Article IV Section 5    Current:  Student membership will be current as long as the student is enrolled in an approved associate degree program in the state of Louisiana.  PROPOSED:  delete  (content addressed in Article III Section 4a)

Article VII Section 2    Current:  The President-elect shall organize the Academic Quiz Bowl and preside during the conduct of the bowl.   PROPOSED:  The President-elect shall organize the Student Poster Presentations.  (the Academic Quiz Bowl was discontinued and replaced with Student Poster Presentations)

Article VIII Section 9   Current:  The purpose of the committee shall be to:  1:  Plan, coordinate, and implement all actions necessary for a successful annual convention.  2) Serve as a resource to constituent organizations.  PROPOSED:  The purpose of the committee shall be to plan, coordinate, and implement all actions necessary for a successful annual convention.

                                         Current:  The Convention committee shall be appointed by the President upon recommendation of the host school.   PROPOSED:  The President assumes leadership responsibility for convention planning.  L-OADN Board members assist in convention planning as directed in L-OADN Bylaws or as deemed necessary by the President.  The host school assists the President as deemed necessary.

                                       Current:  The committee shall consist of at least two members appointed by the President.  PROPOSED:  delete  (addressed in above change)
